Last updated: 1 June 2026
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the FindLawyer.lk website and platform ("Platform") operated by FindLawyer.lk. By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
1. About the Platform
FindLawyer.lk is an online marketplace that connects individuals and businesses ("Clients") with independent legal professionals ("Lawyers"). We are a directory service — we do not provide legal advice, represent clients in legal matters, or act as agents for any lawyer listed on the Platform.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- Lawyers must be currently enrolled with the Sri Lanka Bar Association.
- By registering, you confirm that all information you provide is accurate and truthful.
3. User Accounts
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access at [email protected].
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
- You may not create accounts for other persons without their consent.
4. Lawyer Listings
- Lawyers are responsible for the accuracy of their profile information.
- Listing on FindLawyer.lk does not constitute an endorsement by us of any lawyer's services.
- Fees shown on profiles are indicative only — the final fee is agreed between client and lawyer.
- We verify credentials against SLBA records but cannot guarantee the quality of any legal service provided.
5. Client Inquiries
- When you send an inquiry, your contact details are shared with the lawyer you message.
- FindLawyer.lk is not a party to any engagement between a client and a lawyer.
- We do not mediate fee disputes or legal complaints between clients and lawyers.
6. Prohibited Conduct
You must not use the Platform to:
- Post false, misleading or fraudulent information.
- Harass, threaten or harm other users.
- Scrape, copy or reproduce Platform content without permission.
- Attempt to bypass our security measures.
- Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose under Sri Lankan law.
7. Intellectual Property
All content on the Platform — including text, logos, graphics, and code — is owned by or licensed to FindLawyer.lk. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the Platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that lawyer profiles are always current. Use of the Platform is at your own risk.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Sri Lankan law, FindLawyer.lk shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform or from any engagement with a lawyer found through the Platform.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are published constitutes acceptance. We will notify registered users of material changes by email.
